I would like to get my hands on one of those white birds to cross into my pure whites I think it would make my egg color even better, might take a while to get back to pure white feather color but I think it would be worth it in the end

I've got one of these white roosters who was supposed to be a splash wheaten Ameraucana. Gorgeous type and incredible personality. I've been hatching out easter eggers from him for awhile now and as soon as I get another breeding pen together I plan to put him in with my beautiful wheaten Ameraucana hen (he's related to all of my other pure hens) and see what they produce. I'll toe punch and keep good records of course.

Did you get that from Phil last year at Hamilton???

Yup, Norm here (short for "Abnormal") and his sisters are from Phil, last years Hamilton show. The girls are quite nice wheaten and blue wheatens. Most notably, they lay the most vibrant blue eggs that I have ever seen - simply magnificent egg color.

Here's a pic of his sister so you can see that they are quality bred Ameraucanas.

And, because I simply cannot get enough of looking at these eggs...... the two eggs on the ends are from Norm's sisters.

Blue, Black, Splash, Wheaten and Blue Wheatens. Combined with the chicks I hatched from Jean and Wayne Meredith I have some awesome Ameraucanas to work with!

How much would you be willing to pay for one ?

Sorry, just kidding...... I thought it was funny that I was posting away about how lovely the egg color is out of these girls (and hopefully out of Norm's daughters, I shall find out soon) and when I finished posting I found your's about improving egg color through these funky white birds. Interesting idea indeed. I could not be more excited to see what kind of egg color I get out of this boy's babies.

So do you think it's true that the color may be sex-linked and that "white wheatens" are only roosters?

I got some Black Ameraucanas from Duane Urch this week. Cant wait to see them feather out. Also have 33 eggs in bater from Mahonri some of his Wheaten/Blue wheaten and some BCM. A good start.

You would be hard pressed to find another white[?] [or wheaten for that matter] with any better shank color than Norm's! IMO just a nice bird period. Is it my eyes/monitor, or is he cream colored more than white? What colors of EE has he been over, and what color did the chicks hatch and feather out?
Thanks for sharing, and please let us know the outcome of putting him over his related wheaten hens.
