I think my acquisition of Lavenders this Spring can officially be labeled as "Excessive"

Oh but we will be so set next Spring!


Just wondering, are the silvers naturally more flighty?

Okay, I understand the genetics on the B/B/S chickens but how does the Lavender gene work....is it also a dilute gene on the black or is it just a recessive gene that it has to get from both parents to be Lavender?
I have read that I need to keep it on my black Ameraucana's and don't know why can anyone explain this to me

Hi there,
New to the thread and i I have a question. Did not know I was going to be a fan of Ameraucanas. Now I think I am. I purchased some hatching eggs at the show in Monroe, WA. I planned on hatching some for my mom. Had incubator troubles and it killed most of the eggs.

The only Ameraucana I had hatch is a Silver.

Well now I am quite taken with this chick. I would love if anyone knows who was selling the eggs. She was at the Ameraucana club table where they were also selling chicks. Does anyone know?

I believe I will want to acquire more Silvers. Being still what I consider new to chickens I am trying to decide on what breeds I want to work with. Two breeds is what I hope to limit myself to. So far I want four. Hard to decide. Egg color may be the deciding factor.

I hatched 2/16 Lav spilt babies so far!

There are more pips and zips so we'll see what hatches today!​

Sent some eggs to my cousin in Greece. My father hand carried them. TSA was a little leary

but after a lot of explanation and 10 pages of certifications/papework they allowed them not to got through the x-ray machines. It was a lot of paperwork to go through

but here, at day 10, the eggs are all candled "good".

He tried to put them under a hen but she rejected them. They've never seen Ameraucanas in Greece. They have never heard of chickens like ours at all. Not even EEs. The eggs are the "talk of the town". Many visitors to come see them and their color. They can't belive they are natural that way right out of the chicken. I could only export internationally 6 eggs at a time to the EU, and his incubator is a rigged set-up. Too bad his broody rejected them. Send some good wished his way all you Ameraucana Fans!
