Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I think its great that you came on here Bob to put that aspect to rest. Like you said you are human and we do make mistakes. Also at that point in time, as you mentioned, the most important thing was teaching and explaining what makes thee breed what it is so I could see how you cloud be distracted and possibly miss the comb.

I also agree with some of the others here: the issue was more with the way the hostess handled the situation/misinformation that was given, not with your judging on the EE... I just got into poultry and was planning on letting my 6yo brother show one our birds next year but hearing about what the OP went through...well its a little intimidating to say the least.

Regardless im sure the OP will appreciate your input on situation though, as do I!

Thanks

They are VERY difficult to photograph...what I can see, it looks beautiful and a rich blue! Congrats!

Thank you! Though I can not take credit. Some day I will be able to take credit for the birds I will be breeding soon, but not until at least next year, or longer.

Thank you cpartist! I really do love these birds! And the egg color just makes it that much sweeter!

Nice looking Silver! What is the combo of your EE next to her? Very cool feathering!

That looks like an Orloff. I just sold my last one

Bob 1186.....

I am pretty new to ameraucana's but I would just like to vouch for Denise...
She is likely devastated by this day's event. She loves her birds like her children. I think her only fault is that she cares so much. She would no doubt totally understand "mistakes" being made but seems like she felt her birds were not being treated right. And this touched too close to a nerve because she loves them. Read how many times she mentions feeding and watering them, and how concerned she was with the health inspections... this is a person who cares deeply for her animals and felt like they were not being treated right.
She may be right.. she might not be cut out for showing birds... she is too tender hearted. I hope this whole experience has not completely turned her away from showing her beautiful birds.

(((Hugs))) to you Denise!

How about this for a freak? I ordered some chicks from John this spring. I have been TOTALLY happy with them.... except I have to laugh at this one. He is the only one I can find a defect on (Hey... I might miss some defetcts, too, but this is SO obvious)

He has this "pea" comb that is huge, tipped and floppin' in the back! I wonder if he thinks it "fashionable" to wear his hat different that all the other boys?

Okay... maybe not the best picture, but fire away folks. This is the only one of my ameraucanas that I can say for certain is headed for the stewpot.
What the heck would cause a comb like this anyway?

My little black bantam pullet just started to lay. Three tiny eggs in two days. No kidding yesterday there were two tiny eggs in the nest box. I got one today but dropped it before I could take pictures.

Aren't they cuties and they are bluish but then it is hard to capture that color unless you have tons of them . And this picture was taken in the direct sunlight so all of the eggs are lightened. The one in the back right is from my showgirl.

I was wondering if anybody could post a picture of a Silver large fowl Aneracauna chick? So I can compare it to what mine look like. I would take a pic and post it of mine but my hubby is off fighting forest fires and took the camera with him. Thanks :)

Hi! These are the day-old chicks ordered from John Blehm received March 24... The one I kept is flighty, but I worked hard at socializing her.
