Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

1 out of 100 photo's taken for Vogue. She's a natural model! This one obviously not going in but I found it funny.....needs a caption.

He is less "compact". The neck is a bit longer as is the body.

A better thing to ask is, how much does he weigh? There is the possibility that he could fill out more too. Alot of my LF cockerels don't finish out until 14 months unless they are spectacular.

Now that you point it out, I see it. Thank you!

So much to learn!

From the ABC site, this is the bird that I believe has the best type from the demonstration of the eight accepted varieties:

Here is your bird:

I would also say he is a bit "gamey". You can see it better with the almost side by side comparison.

PS I sent the banner today.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I think those that said "gamey" hit the nail on the head on what I don't like about him. I am going to do some test mating with him on the blue girls I have that are more compact to see what I get. Like I said, he's been a late bloomer, and he is still filling out, so hopefully by the time he's a year he won't be so lanky...we'll see.

His wing carriage is a lot better than most of the bantam Am roos I have seen, so at least he's got that going for him...

And yes, his beard/muffs is a bit sparse, but that's been the case on about half the birds I hatched from this particular line.

Thanks everybody!!!

I knew you were gonna ask me how much he weighs! LOL I don't have that answer.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had that conversation at the shoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was sooo good, never tried to get away. Just stood there and posed. Of course it was a unanimous decision to name her Madonna.

Glad to hear that, cuz I have one of your birds who is VERY slow to look like a roo, even tho he crows. So I will wait a little longer. He isn't even 6 months yet, so there is hope for him yet.
