Hey we have seasons! On a scale of 1 to 10 our seasons are probably a 2 but the chickens can tell when its winter!

I actually live at 3000 ft elevation on the slopes of a huge (mostly dormant) volcano that actually gets snow on it. I will admit for me REALLY cold is 48. lol And REALLY hot is 85. I know...you hate me. lol

Here are the chicks from my first hatch. I am really pleased with how they look. The blues are lighter than I expected, but the cheeks are great!

I can't wait to see how they will grow up! The chipmunks are bantam cochins.

If I were you- I'd be growing some coffee to go with those eggs!

I have thought of it! Coffee is soooo much work. We drink some of the best coffee you can get that is grown 2 miles from me. Ack... more haters coming...
Ok how about this.. I pay $7.00 for a gallon of milk, $4.50 for a gallon of gas, It has taken me a year and over $600.00 to get a handful of chickens that most people can easily acquire. Sigh... at least the weathers nice. lol

Awwww! I love broodies!!! They are so sweet taking care of the babies!! I would to have a couple of broodies, they do a much better job of raising babies than I can. Sadly, I don't have any (yet).

You may be right. #3 does look like NN because it looks olive to me. My green ones are kinda chalky with white deposits on them. Is your #2 like that?

Love them! I am having new pullets lay every day this week! I love spring! lol
Ok... I love egg sleuthing... Here are pullet eggs I collected today.

W is from my blue wheaten, #1 is from my black pullet that has laid a few already. #2 & #3....quite a bit greener aren't they? The only other girls I saw hanging out in the nest box was another black Am pullet and and a naked neck green egger. I am thinking # 3 is from the NN. #2 could be from a black ameraucana. If so that is pretty green for an ameraucana. I do have two NN green eggers so it is possible they are both from the NNs, just never saw the other NN in the nest box or anything. So hard to tell unless you actually see the egg pop out. lol
If #2 is from a black am then she is probably from the same pen that your girls came out of.
