Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Tiny dot on top of chicks heads. Is that an indicator of pullet or cockeral?

Luanne, I blame this on you...

I've been trying to break her for almost 3 weeks, I've given up.

She's sitting on ceramic eggs right now, I've got Platinum/Dun Sumatra eggs in the incubator that I plan on giving her a few days before they go into lockdown. BTW, her beard is typically a lot fuller, the other girls started to pick at her though because she was monopolizing one of the nesting boxes in the big coop.
Put her in a cage with a wire bottom. Her belly needs to get cooled down to change the hormones.

To break up a broody hen I put her in the surplus rooster pen.The roosters harass here and she stops being broody. The change of pen also helps.

Yes, a pen change even seems to work with my Cochins, and they are pretty stubborn. Nothing like everyone picking on you makes you forget about imaginary eggs.

Hoping to hatch out some Ameraucanas next Tuesday from Mrheinz77

put 4 under my broody and have 4 in the bator. Can't wait for some chicks!

So far at least one chick hatched under my broody - I heard it and saw the broken shell when I went to open up the coop this morning! I'll try to get a picture later today.
