Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hi everybody was just wanted to share a few pics of my pullet and get some feed back on my bird.
Does she look like an Ameraucana at all?.... " im guessing not" just a EE?
The lady i got her from said Ameraucana, I really dont know and im brand new, this was my first bird.

And will feathers grow around her eyes or is that the breed and they will stay red and fleshy like that?

ChickenFresh, she's an EE but she's truly beautiful! I wish "purebred" Ameraucanas did come in colors like that.

Your EE is beautiful! I would love to have one like that! I started with an EE in my first group of birds two years ago. I was told that she was an Americana (with an i) when I purchased her and then learned here on BYC that she is an EE. She lays a beautiful green egg. Last year I added a couple of purebred Ameraucanas to my flock and they lay very light blue eggs. I love having the variety in my egg basket and my EE is a much more dependable egg layer than the 2 Ameraucanas!

Hi everyone. I am considering purchasing a couple of blue wheaten hens from RKR Poultry Farms but I'd like to hear about some other people's experiences with them first. Their birds seem quite nice from the pictures and are from Wayne Meridith's lines. Has anyone bought birds from this breeder before?

Also, I'd love some feedback on this Wheaten boy! He is from John Blehm's lines. His beard has filled out since this photo was taken, although the picture hardly does him justice :)

A pic from when he was younger... you can see his beard in full.

A couple things I personally dislike about this cock are his earlobes (they are a bit light but no positive enamel white) and his comb (it is a bit large and lopped although not below the horizontal), but otherwise he looks nice to me.

As you can probably tell, I hope to set up a breeding trio and I want some of the nicest possible birds!

I like him, I am new so I am still learning here, but I think his beard should be black....I would be concerned about his ears too... do you have a closer pic? I would like to see what you are talking about. LEARNING

I hatched a Lavender a day early! I have several I could hatch SO EXCITED! I need some Lavenders

OK I also need some clarification please. This BACK TO BLACK thing.... can I just use lavender splits or do I need to keep just blacks too? Why are we going back to black.... I think it is for type improvement, but is there some other reason? Educate me before I get to deep and can't dig my way out.... I want to stop digging early

Right now I have blacks in the pens, I have one Split pullet that is laying well now and one Lavender pullet. I have several Splits growing up and in a few months can have a flock of just splits and Lavenders. Should I leave the blacks in? I don't currently have a black pen and really don't have the room for a just black pen, but I could work something out if I need a black pen to pull from. I just want to be clear on WHY....
