Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Kibi,

Just from a quick glance at your birds, I believe you have gotten some easter eggers. Alot of your birds have green legs or just plain yellow legs. Ameraucanas have white skin and they should only have slate or black legs (on blacks).

Where did you get the chicks/hatching eggs?

Quote: I have a dozen Partridge Penedesenca eggs in the bator scheduled to hatch on July 29th. Those eggs are beautiful! I keep looking at them a thinking it will be great if I get enough of them to hatch.

I have had two Marans die in the heat this year so I really want a good dark egg layer that can take the heat. The breed description says they are flighty and don't like human contact. What do yo think about them? Not liking human contact does not bother me.

If I get them to hatch, I am thinking about crossing them with my Cream Legbars to make Olive Eggers.

Dan,

I couldn't find any photos of splash wheaten pullets, but they should look exactly like your wheaten and blue wheaten pullets except there would be white on the feathers where there is black or blue in the others. The birds will still have the wheaten color all over their bodies.

Thanks Jean, anyone else have pics of Splash Wheatons to share?

I am a newbie to these birds,, with that in mind,,, here are some questions:

If these "Whites" are showing up in many lines, has anyone considered/undertaken them as a project?
If so, what have their offspring looked like, what have they produced?
Where did they come from?
Should I not use them in a breeding program?

Happy Mtn, thanks, Wayne is on my list along with Mike Gilbert

Ron, the scratches are chicken related,,,,hardware cloth bit me
