Ameraucana

Pure Ameraucanas start laying any where from around 8-10 months and lay an average of 3-4 eggs per week. They are pretty good layers. EE's tend to mature a little faster at least in my experience so they may begin laying around 7-9 months if they are not pure Ameraucanas.

At what age do ameraucanas start laying and how many eggs do they typically lay?

Since there are two breeds of Ameraucanas, both bantam and large fowl, several varieties in each breed and different strains/lines of some varieties it is a tough question to give an easy answer to.
I've had some lay as early as 18 weeks and others that took several months. Some will start early and strong, just to take a long break. During the breeding season with 16 hours of light mine put out a lot of eggs when I need them to incubate.
Ameraucanas are a tri-propose breed for meat, eggs and exhibition but like any other "standard" breed they will never compete with single-propose hybrids when it comes to meat and egg production. :)

Many factors goes into play, such as environement, feed, line, hatch dates, etc. However, I grew out 4 LF AMs this year. I had one start laying at 18 weeks, one at about 20, one at 22 and one at 24 weeks. In all, they all laid before 6 months. Best bet is ask your breeder. If they are serious breeder, they would know small details about their chickens.

My ISA Brown started laying at 14 weeks. I would say, keep your chickens happy, pray and talk to them. It works :)
