Hello everyone, I have been wanting to add some colors to my flock as well as diversity in egg color. Someone on my local community page had this chicks for sale. I was told that they came from a hatchery that they are ameraucana and that they have been sexed as females. Can you guys with your vast extension confirm is these are indeed ameraucana? Is that even possible? They are a little over a week old, according to the info that I was given, they have been with me for about a week now. If they are not it is ok, my main concern is for them to be female and for that we have to wait and see. I would love to hear what you all have to say. Thanks again for taking the time.

Out of curiosity, what gives it up to you? I want to learn and it is my first time with this "breed"

@EmmaRainboe has a great article that explains the differences. Can you bring a link over, Em?

Intro = = = = = = = = = = = 🐔❤️🐔❤️🐔❤️🐔❤️🐔❤️🐔 @TheOddOneOut is the only other person who I have seen touch on this subject. A link to her thread here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...hink-you-have-an-ameraucana-do-check.1421663/ She goes through all the basics. I wanted to go a bit...

Wrong color skin. Ameraucanas have white skin. It appears that yours have willow shanks.

Pics in natural lighting would help.
I have read about their differences over the internet but for lack of knowing a good source I always end up confused. I can update with better pictures but yes their legs do have color, it's like an olive hue to them one more so than the other one. The other thing that I read is that in general "hatcheries" tend to mislabel ameraucana and sell EE instead and that going through a breeder is a better bet. I pray they give us some interesting color eggs, that would make my kids and myself happy, of course if they end up being females 🙏
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me.
