It says on line that easter eggers lay 280 and ameraucanas lay 180-200 a year and that true ameraucanas are rare so they probably are easter eggers but I'm fine with that. Are there different types of easter eggers?Unfortunately most hatcheries and feed stores mislabel their chicks.some day Ameracauna, some Araucanian etc. but most are actually Easter Eggers.
There are some hatcheries that sell both and label them properly but not a lot.
Easter Eggers can lay basically any color eggs (green, blue, pink, etc.) whereas Ameraucanas only lay blue.
Easter Eggers aren’t really necessarily a mix, most of the hatcheries have their own lines now that breed fairly true, but they are different than Ams
They can definitely vary a lot! I’m not sure if there’s really specific “types” or not but each hatchery usually has their own specific line that might be different from another hatchery and they usually just breed them together but you can also get Easter Eggers by mixing two purebreds together which some people do too. So there’s a lot of variation. But most of the hatchery Easter Eggers they have been breeding the same type for a while so they’re pretty consistent nowIt says on line that easter eggers lay 280 and ameraucanas lay 180-200 a year and that true ameraucanas are rare so they probably are easter eggers but I'm fine with that.
