Ameraucanas?

Wow, ok explain to me what an Ameraucana is, how is it different from a Easter Egger?
Ameraucanas are a recognised breed as per the APA that come in specific colours and breed true. They were developed in the 1980's by breeders that liked the eggs of the Araucana (which is rumpless and tufted) but didn't like the lethal gene involved.

Easter Egger is a catch-all term for any bird with the blue egg gene that does not fit said APA requirements. The hatchery "Americanas" are the most commonly found bird described by this name, and they have an extremely wide range of physical characteristics and egg colours that do NOT fit the Standard. If you bred two EEs together you'd get a bird with irregular colouring and type such as the birds pictured by the OP. Are they related to Ameraucanas? Yes. Are they Ameraucanas? NO. Don't rely on Wikipedia for your information either; check the ABC history page, linked below. If you disagree, go argue with them... and see how far you get. :p (Hint: not very far)

In my opinion the hatchery EE have rather the hallmarks of a landrace, having a certain colour scheme most common to the breed enough so that you can ID them on sight, and a type that is decently standardized across North America. I have been told that is not the case but I have yet to find an explanation of why not that I can understand, but that is more a fault in the category of my brain.
The True Origin of EEs
Here is an interesting post I found on the matter.

You could not be more incorrect if you tried......

I thought these forums were for correcting people and answering questions... Not being mean to those who are misinformed...

To be fair, I found this website like 30 minutes ago by searching on google, I find a lot of information on google, that link leads me to a website on google. If I followed your rules then I would not be on this site learning my way around right now... Thanks for correcting people, people like you are why I came here, I don't know much about chickens, I just have a few Rhode Island Reds. I want to learn more, hopefully when I have questions to ask I will get answers like the one you gave. I am not going to continue to use this site if all I get are replies saying i'm so stupid that even if I tried to be more stupid I couldn't. I do not know much about chickens and if my questions get a response like this persons question did then I'm out. I will definitely make lots of breed identification mistakes and i don't want to be insulted for it...

The issue was the other person that replied to the OP that I quoted (that seems to have deleted her post now) was presenting her post in a manner that implied we were all bungling idiots, and that isn't well received by anyone and inspires defensive posts—as you saw. I tried to keep my reply friendly and I am sorry if you misinterpreted it or felt it was directed at you or the thread starter. :hugs In general the tone here is friendly but strongly worded posts or rants will get one a few daggers in their back, lol. Simple inaccurate information isn't snapped at; we all have to learn eventually.

I meant Wikipedia, oops. Let me go edit that. I think I need more coffee.
