I have a 1 year old that has laid about 10 eggs recently. the past week or so she hasn't laid any. She is going around acting like she is searching for a nest all over the barn. I have looked in ever tiny spot I can find. Moving everything and nothing. I have even changed the hay and wood hips in the nesting box and put up nice curtains for the hens. I don't know what is going on.

After reading I'm not sure she is going broody. She just seems like she doesn't want to lay her eggs in the nest boxes I have for them. Could it be to many in the coop?

It's possible. Sometimes they just decide to do things that have no reason to us, though. I have an oversized coop and more than enough nests -- we used to have a good deal more chickens. One hen decided one day that she referred to lay her eggs in the shop building next door. After a few months she returned to the nests in the coop. I still have no idea why. They also change their minds about which is the "favorite" nest regularly, for no apparent reason.

Well that's good to know. She is my only blue egg layer so I really miss them. I think I need to figure out how to "MAKE HER HAPPY" lol
