Here are my Buffs that I got from Metzer. They are 18 weeks old and supposedly 2 pairs.

I think he is definitely a boy

Have 2 slightly smaller ones with "fluffy pants" aka lobes ;-)
I think those are the girls

And then I got this one with one fluffy pants/lobe …. Is that the other boy???

So what's going on with lobes, no lobe, only one lobe….. a little bit confused.
First time geese owner so still learning!!!!

And for the fun of it here is a group shot with all the ducks too…… hanging out pool side ;-)

I can't answer your questions being very new to Buffs and having only 1 she/he is 12 weeks old. But did want to say yours and your flock of ducks are gorgeous

She (we have deemed the small one a she and the big one a he just by default), may not go quite as crazy over food and grazing as the big one, but she is still a pretty hardy eater. I have been giving a pinch of DE here and there and was contemplating beginning apple cider vinegar to make sure she doesn't have a worm. She has always been slightly less talkative than the big one, but again, not by much. She is just as responsive to our voices, etc.

We live in a pretty small town, do resources are limited. Do you have a certain vitamin supplement to recommend?

Sorry for all the questions! I am totally new to geese but have gotten so stinkin attached to these little guys that I want to make sure I am doing everything right.

Nutri-drench is one that I have used with success on chickens. ducks, and a injured pigeon.

There are so many reasons but easiest way in productional toulouse and American buffs and most embdens is that females have lobes while. males have either no lobes or a bit of a lobe. :)
Pure breed Embdens males and females should both be large meaty and both should have lobes

I'm showing my geese this October I really hope they win I could open some big doors as too selling their babies
Well i hope they do too, now how about showing them here first so we can see them

Hi Everybody! I just found this thread and I'm so excited to be a part of it and to learn from all of you who have raised geese, for a lot longer than I have, I'm sure. I got my two Buffs from Metzers. They were hatched on May 5, 2014 and I received them on May 7th at the post office at the crack of dawn. They are now almost 4 months old and I just love them to pieces. I had ordered a pre-sexed pair and for a while I (and others here on BYC) had a hard time telling which one was the goose and which one was the gander. I think we've got it down to a science by now, but I'll post some pictures of each and maybe you can tell me what you all think, since you all raise Buffs or have Buffs, you might see something that we didn't notice the first time around. Their names are Gus and Gabi and each one knows his and her name so if we got the sexes mixed up and backwards, it won't affect their names. They'll just forever be Gus the girl and Gabi the boy...lol !!! Thanks and I'm looking forward to talking about our Buffs.
