My blues are laying again we got 15in dumped on us. But the temps are supposed to get warmer. I have been pulling the eggs tasty by the way.when is it a good temp to leave the eggs for her to sit ? I am looking into a incubator this week but I would rather the goose do it. I envy any one who live in a warm climate. thanks.

And she will geese are excellent brooders and parents so give her time when it warms up some you'll have a broody and goslings just let her decide when.

I collect eggs and incubate till weather has days above freezing and night just about or above freezing. Then I let them lay eggs and decide to sit. One of my girls did this last year and hatched 8 out of 8 eggs. The other was sitting well till a raccoon destroyed her nest.

Thanks guys I am hoping the worse is over. It was quite warm yesterday a lot of snow melted. I let the geese out with the ducks I can't do that the gander Hansel tried to kill one of my ducks he had her pined and was plucking her. She had a bloody spot the size of a quarter on her breast. I treated her she seems to be fine today. I am afraid he is going to get worse when Gretel goes broody. So I am going to expand there pen. The worries of being a mother of my flock. Ha.

If my geese get the chance they will grab a chicken or duck and hold on for dear life they like no one but themselves.I'm glad your duck is okay. He will dif be worse best to keep them separated if you can.

I am now letting Gretel lay and set. I am marking the day and egg she lays in a book.. She has 2 so far she lays every other day it seems. how many eggs do geese lay and will she sit when done, I am buying an incubator today just in case. I was going to experiment with the duck eggs I no they are fertile, the little buggers have been busy. I want to get things down pack just in case. I have been throwing duck eggs out I get just about 7 eggs a day. I am having trouble convincing people they are good to eat. they rather eat out at a fast food place. people here don't eat right KY is one of the highest state for obesity and diabetes.

Don't throw your duck eggs away do you have dogs? I steam my ducks eggs and feed to the dogs or bake with them.

FINALLY !!! The wait is over !!! My goose laid her very first egg ever sometime yesterday afternoon !!! I didn't find the egg until this morning due to the fact that she
laid it underneath our rabbit hutch! The hutch is a triple-decker model on legs, so the bottom of it sits about 2 feet off the ground and when the bunnies are running
around inside some of their pine shavings inevitably fall out. As you can imagine, by the end of the week, what started out as a couple of errant shavings has turned
into a comfy little knoll, upon which Gabi choose to lay her first born egg. Apparently the ultra deluxe mini replica of the Taj Mahal I built for her (replenished daily with its very own fresh and fluffy shavings) isn't good enough to house her precious cargo in...lol !!! Anyway, I removed the egg with the hope that she'll lay her next one
in her own nest and not in a pile of used rabbit litter again. Either way, since this is only her first season, I had planned on removing the eggs and not letting her sit
on them anyway. Out of curiosity, are there any tips or tricks of the trade that I could use to convince her to use a specific nest? And in the future, would
it be okay to relocate her eggs to a different spot in the yard? Or do I run this risk of her not sitting on them at all then? And when do they start to sit on them?
After the first egg, or not until they've laid the entire batch of them? Thank you for any and all help and suggestions in advance.
