I raised these otherwise feral chickens from eggs in Oahu, HI. Their mother abandoned their nest and I couldn't find it in me to just leave them so I kept the eggs warm till they hatched. I raised them and they (and I) got really attached. So, I flew them home with me over 2,000 miles to keep them XD Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what breed they look like? Their parents were feral chickens (there are thousands of them in Hawaii) so they could be a mix of breeds. But, I have been guessing American Game Fowl? Or Old English? Thanks for all the help!

I don't think they are pure OEGB or American Game...wrong body types and wing lengths....games are lighter, lankier, with wing tips that tend to extend below their body line...these are rounder with overall shorter wing tips from what I can see in the photos (hard to tell)... The one has almost Campine appearance, the really gold necked one.

My call is mixed breed with some game. Depending on the ages, you have at least 1 rooster...the one with the most developed comb looks to be a roo as comb and patchy coloring indicate that could be a rooster (again depending upon the age).

Go to the feathersite.com and type in American Game and OEGB to see what I mean...look at Campine too.

I agree. Hawaii has loads of feral chickens running around and virtually all of them are game mixes.

Agreed

I heard that there is a Bantam breed? Or is that another name for a "mutt?" And I figured that they were probably a mix of different breeds. They all are now about 3 1/2 months old, and the one that you said looks like a roo crowed for the first time this morning!

You're welcome. Bantam is not a breed but rather refers to any breeds of small size as opposed to standard sized breeds.
