Nothing wrong with crosses once you get em a bit more consistent. Which may take awhile or may luck out.

Most of the lines he has he’s bred for 20 some years

Then again a lot of the times after you get your feet wet and show your serious they'll return the favor. I spent good money, but in turn around I was giving their pride an joy lines down the road for either shipping or nothing which I never expected and would return the favor in a heart beat.

I paid decent money for a spangled McLean bird. That turned out to be a waste of time and money he was the wheeling'ist pos I've ever seen when he cocked out. I kept him as a reminder for along time and culled him this winter, I won't forget the absolute junk people are peddling these days.... theirs few I trust and it's no one remotely local. Maybe I lucked out on the rest but I highly doubt it usually honest men have honest birds.
