That’s some predator type sh*t right there.
Do you mean like a rooster tail? I haven’t but it’s just because I don’t use them. I’d have to buy the hooks for that and since I don’t use a spinning rod it’s pointless. I have thought someone could easily make them better than store bought though with different materials.Ever tied and spinners?
Yeah there’s guys that do it. They’ll tie bucktail teaser rigs for stripers off the coast too. They attach a teaser (which isn’t much more than some deer hair on a hook) up a few feet from the baited hooks below.Yeah like a rooster tail or the many other brands. I’ve bought a few handmade deals just didn’t know if you did any I know you were selling a few flies here and there but I didn’t know if it was something others ask for or not. Doesn’t seem as common as fly tying but does seem to have some sort of following and sorta similar concepts.
That’s actually a spinner fly. I’ve seen them before but it’s really just using a fly on a spinning rod. You need the weight of the lure to cast it on a spinning reel. They work but not in the same way a regular fly can drift naturally in the current. They need to be cast out and ripped in quickly to work.View attachment 2364242
They do look different than your average store bought deal figured I’d give em a go.
They will probably work for something different but the fly deal has more to do with looking natural. If you watch trout you’ll see them set up in areas of current behind a rock or something where they can sit there finning saving energy then shoot out and grab food items. In many cases the fly doesn’t matter it’s being in the zone the fish are. When you yank a lure through the water you’re only catching the aggressive fish that are willing to spend all that energy for it. Meanwhile there’s many more chilling sipping bugs off the water or nymphs drifting by them.Yeah same deal as usually just figured the fly look would be different than the average rooster tail or the likes. We will see how they do.
