American Gamefowl

Wait are you saying I can’t buy some birds from Greenfire Farms, breed them to death and sell at a reduced rate and make a killing with the latest fad chicken?
Not in the long run. When you factor in feed, housing, the price of the birds, incubators, supplies, etc you won’t break even. It’s a hobby for a reason, people are supposed to enjoy the poultry.

I was kidding but it depends. Some people just want eggs and meat when they’re done laying. Nothing wrong with that at all imo. The “pet” crowd is something different entirely. Like all of a sudden these people can raise chickens better and safer in a cage 24/7. People do things differently and many ways work. I still believe if allowed every single chicken would march right out of their holding cell. Not too mention most health issues can be prevented when birds are wandering loose at least during the day sometimes.

I rescued her from a farm I worked at last spring and summer. She was there when I started working. There were also a couple of stags that were kept singly because they fought constantly. My boss sold them at auction because they were always fighting.
You sure they were games? I've had bantam roos that wouldn't tolerate each other whether there were hens around or not.
