What the hell is going on here?

I happened ... and all the good folk ran :lau

Been thinkin’ I owe you for some muppet bugs you stitched... catching up on this thread gave me an idea ;)... but I never did dunk those bugs ... I’ve got nine irons in the fire still

When’s your critter getting season start there?

Fall is the best time to get out there fishin anyway. Trapping opens Nov 15th here.

Same day here... saw a petty-coat sow under the bird feeder the other night... she’s big enough to test my chicken setup, but I feel like she’s got plenty till the 15th so she won’t work that hard in that time...but I feel like i I’ve been wrong before too...

I just think that catch will be sub prime till late December here... when are yours prime?... and being a trapper and fowl man joe fo you weigh those against each other?

Pretty sure I’ve read some of your thoughts on this last year but I forget...

... fishin right now is out... I can catch and release at our trout park all winter... so might make it s few times there

Yeah the raccoons are almost all still blue through November. December is the best month to trap everything here. Foxes are usually ok in November though. Mink doesn’t open here til Dec 1st, beaver dec 26. Mink and muskrat are best in January for mink and Feb for muskrat.
It’s a tough balance duck hunting and trapping at the same time. I’m usually exhausted doing both.
I try hard not to catch any foxes around here til November unless they’re causing problems. Really I try not to trap anything once Sept rolls around. I roll the dice and hope they’ll all leave my chickens alone til the fur is prime. Doesn’t always work out that way though. I will kill them if they go after a chicken. I can usually still use the fur for tying flies even if the hide is too thin.

Prices are poor here either way since a bit of an up in 2012 or so ... so it’s not a big concern either way... just more of a “proper practice” thing... or I guess what I think of as an ‘art’ of trapping

I’ve been thinking of skinning a few ‘dillers and sending them to you to see if you can stitch them up into some muppet bugs..

... leprosy aside I think it might become a thing ;)

I really don’t think anything other than foxes and coyotes are going to be worth skinning unless you’re getting them tanned for yourself.
The biggest loser are beavers. Hardly worth the effort. Good thing I actually like putting up fur.
Tough call but I’m going to have to pass on the armadillo skin. I’m pretty sure just about every other animal in North America would be more useful. :gig

Lol, you’re probably right...

Maybe I should start making baskets

That is far beyond my skill level. Very cool though. I’m guessing my new pup would have that thing munched down to nothing since she enjoys chewing on just about anything and everything.

If crowing is annoying, then just don't have one, but I'll tell you, I have a hen that crows every now and again, she's my avatar :love

I think the worm man has is going to get them worked up now:gig
People amaze me. I like the sound of roosters crowing. That’s what they do. Everyone nowadays tries to make animals fit their lifestyle instead of changing themselves.
Bachelor pads, walking roosters on a leash, crow collars, clothing for chickens, diapers on house birds.
Americans are a goofy bunch.
