Safety is fine and what they say is the reason. But that being said I've did rust repairs on vehicles 3-4 years old that's pretty shotty no matter how you slice it. Y'all wouldn't believe this but back when the smart car came out it was one of the safest cars built it was the size that would kill you instead of plowing a guard rail it would ride it cars have came along ways but we could take some of the ways the older stuff was done and apply it in my opinion.

I think I’d rather drop the same money for a frame off restomod of a given make and model than buy another new one... but I don’t know if I’ll ever do it

Talking money and a lot of time. And that the thing restorations or restomods unless you got a heck of a team beside ya it takes a lot I mean a lot of time.

And with the way things are going collector cars pricing is going down. This new generation would much rather have the newest and greatest than care about how or where that new one came from.

Lol, by old retired neighbor has that van in that color... probably a 95 or so though...

he gave nothing for it, puts a bit into it each year, and keeps it going ... he also has three other vehicles, but that’s his daily driver
