Knock it off then.
You got me all jealous of all the broodies just to find out you got one with 3 measly chicks?
D@mn I can do that well with leghorns as broodies.
:lau
Lol. I’ve actually got 8 hens with chicks. They’re all doing a helluva job. One of em likes to punt the watered all around the pen but aside from her, top notch.

How do they really do?
About what percentage of all the hens go broody a year. And do they hatch more then one clutch a year?
I’d say probably 80-90% will go broody. More than likely I could get them all to set on eggs however some might require a different setup. The few that haven’t I probably could get them to go broody by removing the rooster or putting them in a quieter location.
All that will go broody will attempt to set again. I usually don’t let them though. It’s kinda rough on them and I usually have enough chicks by then anyway.

D@mn it. You're supposed to be talking me out of taking you up on that earlier offer.
This isn't helping.

Some hens will quit on them earlier than others though. I’ve left hens with their young until almost 6 months. Just gotta get them outta there if they start laying eggs again.
That's the truth had that happen last season, killed two 8week olds.
What's that about?
Do hens not get along or just from being broody or?
Guess maybe I'm missing some info on hens.
