American Gamefowl

It’s really not that hard to tie flies. It just takes a little patience. You should pick up a fly tying kit. Hours of relaxation and enjoyment.
Does your buddy fish for anything other than trout with the fly rod?

I’ve considered it in the past but I have too many projects and hobbies as is ...

Actually my buddy was trying to get me to go to some upcoming tying class the other day... but it sounded a bit like just something to get people to join a local fly fishing club... and I don’t do clubs, lol

But yeah we hit the streams for smallmouth and goggle eye, and small lakes for largemouth and sunfish... I kinda prefer that over trout... less people and my eyes can see to tie knots better :hmm

We’ve had so much rain this year we’ve not been able to float... so the nearby spring park has been the go to just because it’s easy access and doesn’t flood in the same way....

They are pretty nice like little works of art but meant to be used, I bagged a almost 20inch rainbow they sure catch fish. I'm sure they will catch me a lot more fish in due time, had me a bass on this past weekend but missed him probably could have had him again but loud groups came in just in time to catch a damn down pour serves them right.

Practice makes perfect I enjoy the fly rod.

I teach kids fly tying over the summer in a outdoor event in August. It’s kind of a high end hunt club event though. ;) The kids are fun to teach and some of their parents want to learn to.
I’m not into clubs at all either. For some reason I don’t get along with many people. :idunno
I prefer fishing for bass and blue gills just because its fun and its never a hassle. They can be picky enough but not as bad as breaking out the magnifying glass to tie the the tippet to the fly.

Saltwater, trout etc is all fun but I don’t live close to any trout streams. I spent many years driving all over to different rivers. It just gets old. I really do like fishing for landlocked salmon and brook trout in Maine and New Hampshire though. Throw in some smallmouth bass and it’s even better.

A lot of my roosters are starting to molt. These 3 feathers are useable for bigger flies like streamers for bass. The 4th little feather can be used for tailing on dry flies because the barbs are stiff.
