If your allowed any kind of rooster period no need to mix the two unless you got plenty of land and can keep them separated. Either layers or gamefowl Layers are indeed much easier though, but less satisfying.

That’s true. It was just a thought. I have read that hens prefer cocks with larger combs and wattles just wasn’t sure if it was true.

I'm not saying that wattles/combs aren't part of the "attraction" but there's much more to it than that.

With games they come in all different shapes and sizes I'd say it has little to do as with it. I even cut open a few stags last year cause I plan to eat what I cull they were all healthy but the biggest combed fella had the smaller walnuts out of the 3... we'll they were miss matched.

Hens flock to roosters that truly have confidence and don’t try to force them. Same as people. Lol
Many roosters just like guys talk a good game but rarely back it up.
Dubbing layer roosters for some kind of test is a bit unnecessary.
