American Gamefowl

That’s why you don’t give them breaks. IMO hunting ethics can’t be taught. You either know what’s right or you shouldn’t be hunting/trapping etc.

Correction. They can be taught but not at that age.

He is young still yet and as we both know as they say young dumb and full of ....... at that age. I remember about that age I decided to get mouthy with my mom she smack me straight across the face she's no crap taker either. We live and learn if shaws boy repeats such again.... well I know how my mom was lol.

I've never noticed a taste change with ages or size maybe a tad more tender at best. Most deer in any area eat and forage for the same that's probably a factor but not a huge one.
I suppose it is more the tenderness than the taste. Big bucks around here aren't good for much but grinding into burger.

He just didn't think he deserved the lecture since he already got a ticket and will have to pay the fine.
That's not the point. . .

That's what ticks me off so bad. . he has been taught.. :barnie

He's been overly anxious to hunt this year with the baby coming and all. I guess he thinks he won't be able to get out and go as much once his life is changed having a kid. No excuse. Even more the reason to do things right imo.

Well tell him to keep hanky panky to a minimum cause ones not so bad lol I usually have 3 kids doing anything. Havoc knows if I'm pulling a transmission or doing a simple tune up I've got 3 with me 98% of the time, going hunting or even checking traps is a chore heck it's all a chore.

I do have to give him a little credit for telling the truth and not trying to weasel out of it. . . and he probably could've not purchased the tag at all and gotten away with it.

In his mind it wasn't all that bad to do since we can legally buy up to 5 antlerless tags this year.. Who the hell needs to harvest 5 deer anyway

But you can't shoot first and then buy the tag. :he

Besides the back straps that's what we do with most our deer. Well make jerky out of the younger does but any and all backstraps are used for frying.

We grind up bacon with our deer makes for some tasty stuff so good the father in law had to copy me lol.

We take about 3-5 a year between the two of us we work it all up ourselves. It takes a lot to feed 5 people haha keeps from buying beef that isn't to cheap.

We normally just get beef trim from the packing house to grind into ours. But it's getting harder to get now that most people take their deer in to be processed.. They don't have much trim to spare if you don't speak for it ahead of time.
