Oh and by the way if anyone is looking for an almost wool blanket and don’t want to pay $300 for a Pendleton. These worked very good and we’re pretty warm.

My brother has a nice heavy wool army surplus blanket that I took to Colorado in the past... it was a bit heavy for packing in, but was so warm I think it was worth it....

I’ve looked at them in the past, but was always too cheap to buy one

Caught another that had moved into the shed... unfortunately after it chewed the starter wire on my mower.... something about the purple wire must taste good... had mice chew it in the past too

I had it pulled over my head since it was so cold and the few times I woke up (since I was laying on my knife still attached to my belt) when I pulled that blanket back the cold just slapped me right in the face. So I’d say it’s totally worth it.
I still have my wool blanket from the Army and this is better. Not as itchy and softer yet just as warm.

Correct, Eastern wood rat / pack rat ...

I won’t turn them out at the house as they can be destructive...


I actually have released several in the past ... I’d just turn them out on the way to town on a big block of timber along the river ... figuring they’d feed some other critter if nothing else...

These days I put them down and leave them out for our resident yard owl to have.

They’re about the easiest thing in the world to trap... but they always seem to move in and go undetected for a while before I notice I’ve got another one.

I have 2 Lansky knives I use for various things, I don't carry them often. I looked them up and they are $7.99
(I'm not really allowed to drag out the KA-Bar knives to use in the chicken coop

One year I helped an old guy down the road a piece trap a bunch out of his horse barn... I had about 10 I froze and used for cat sets that year...

this is why I have my own little deep freeze ... my wife is not fond of the idea of finding a stock pile of dead rats when she’s looking to defrost a roast, lol

I’ve got one too. I usually use it to put freshly skinned beaver pelts in. They flesh much easier after being frozen and thawed.

Well it depends what you’re doing with the knife. A cheap pair of scissors will do most people just fine.
