I wasn’t knocking the “old school” rounds.... just teasing about how everyone and their brother thinks they have to shoot whatever is the popular round of the day... the two I mentioned seem like that to me, I’ve never owned either

270 is a fine round, I used to have one... went to a .25-06 later... my wife shoot a 25-06 too



I think the same sometimes, but too many old guys told me never sell a good shooter, you’ll regret it later, lol

We'll keep the Wifes 700 probably one of the best made guns and a reliable shooter. My rugers is awesome but you take them apart or shoot em for awhile load after load the rem 700 is a more solid gun.

Those are nice and timeless looking... I have one of my dads arrows from the 70s ... that looks just like those

The ruger isn’t a model No1 is it? I always wanted one of those, but a lot of them don’t shoot well... so if you have one of those that shoots you better hang on to it!

... what do you consider your max effective range with your stick bow?

It'll cut dime size holes at 100 for about 2-3 shoots then you best let that Barrel cool for a good bit the internals are fine compared to most but that Rem is built like a tank if i would have found another deal in one of those I would have got it for myself.

25 yds tops with snow on the ground and plenty cold.
I’ve shot squirrels with muzzy small game heads at 23 and 24 yds but ideally at 20 yds or less.

Deer have all been under 20
