It's not about rust you brought up the issues with cleaning it I was giving ideas that's all.

Nah I know. But the reality is not many people are going to bust out a pressure washer and start going to town on it after each use. The more practical thing is just to wipe it down. Since it will all be greasy it won’t rust and will be easy to wipe up regardless of coating.

It's not gonna get a lot of use this year with all this weather we're having. I'm not a die hard trapper just yet. .
Season is nearly over already. Flooding like crazy out there. Tomorrow don't look much better.

No worries it’s nice. Especially if the base is heavy enough you may not have to brace it against anything. Mine is light enough that I have to slide the base of the beam up against the wall or work bench to keep it still. Raccoons are easy but some pelts are a little harder to flesh so you have to push a lot harder than you’d think.

You would also be better off trapping raccoons when it’s wet and warm. You’re more likely to catch them then. Once it gets cold they start spending more time in the dens and messing up their fur.
