American Gamefowl

I have a question about behavior. Do game roosters act different than a standard breed rooster? I've noticed that Elvis likes to lay down in my flower bed, still in sight of the hens but not necessarily with them. He's not dust bathing either just chilling. Because he was a rescue I don't know what his life was like prior to me getting him from the shelter so I don't know if that plays a part too. My hens free range all day then put themselves up at sundown.

Yeah there defiantly different acting. Mine lay down like that usually only when the sun is out though

Every bird is a little different, but GF roosters are different from "layer roosters". Mine does hang with the girls for the most part, but you may find him by himself every once in a while.

Is your guy eating well?

Or it could be the same guy?
Good point, I thought if so he would set me straight but he never got back with me.. I also asked if he would send a photo of the hens, I hesitated dropping 40 dollars on shipped eggs when the guy won't get back with me.

He seems to be eating fine. He was scratching the ground alot and I saw him at the feeder multiple times pecking away. Is there a difference in an All Flock feed vs a gamebird feed? My girls free range on about 3 acres so they hardly stay still all day. I'm just not sure he's used to doing that.
He surprised me today by trying to call my 9 week old pullets to eat. He's nicer to them than my last roo.

All flock is fine to use.

So far, mine seem to be nicer to the ladies than I've experienced with "layer roosters".
