Well I started an Egyptian Fayoumi Thread as I am raising a few of those… not a game breed. I figure they will have soft feathers, The drastic difference in chick to adult feather colour is interesting… it will be also interesting to see how they mature, behaviors and so on. Definitely a lighter chicken. I bet they will fly good… lol

Congratulations on the new chicks! I took a peak at your thread, sure are cute chicks.

I hope you enjoy them and all goes well :)

I hope they do well. Carriage wise they should be very different from our Phoenix birds. Also tail angle will be drastically different. We decided to try them out after reading they are a hardy breed, do well in heat (it’s hot here and I have had to in the past bring inside to AC and fans full grown birds to cool them as they were suffering from heat to the point it was a possibility they could die… yep a bunch of laying chickens in my family room being treated for heat related distress… all heavier breeds, heavy feathered). Watching TV with the laying flock was a thing in the summer.

I also read the early maturity and decided to try them out.

Unexpected I’ve got some 1/4 havoc black 3/4 Cubans on the ground. Two sisters hatched em still had the male with em and they both started flogging him never seen such. Anyhow maybe a few will make it.

Ive got another hen off of havocs blue/mugs sitting on blue/mug Mac mug eggs hidden off in the field.

Also the original black hen is sitting again on straight black eggs, and I’ve got some Mac/pumpkins if she’ll continue to sit. I had no plans of any of this this season due to health stuff but I reckon if this crap starts again I’ve got some meat as I’m sure they will be culls here and there and eggs at the very least.

Have you not been well?

You got co-broodies in the same pen? Have mercy!
I had mine separate at night, but they were loose during the day - oh...they found each other. Twice:hmm

LOL Sneaky aren't they? I have one sitting now...I thought I was done for the year but seems like NOT. I agree, if nothing else meat for the table and some eggs - can't go wrong with that.

I'm hoping my stags will stay out of too much trouble for a while longer, I can't keep them all but would sure like to see how well each one develops.

Here’s some that were already on the ground. That one stag with his brother is likely to get culled his tail hasn’t came up idk if it’s from something trying to get him and grabbed his tail or what the deal is. I do have his other brother too that I found limping with a hole in his leg that I penned and have been doctoring too.

Ima save y’all the trouble and not talk bout my health.

Yeah I’ve got two Cuban sisters raising biddies. The first chick that was on the ground this year was raised by two blue/mug sisters out of a rooster barrel none the less.

They sure can be sneaky. This year I’ve had hens sit multiple times broke em a lot as I didn’t want many it’s a lot of work raising gamefowl, but I’ve been feeling better and I’m back to work so I’ll let em do what they want I reckon.
