American Lavender Geese

christener I just placed and order for a Lavender female from Holderreads to replace the buff that died. it will be an adult that's how I got my blues. I will be on a waiting list so if I can't get a lavender I will get a blue. I really like chickenlady93 babies from her Lavender and buff. I have my fingers crossed.

A blue goose who is homozygous for blue and has heterozygous recessive buff mated back to it's father, the Lavender gander who is homozygous blue and has no recessive buff would result in..

25% of the F2 hatch would contain buff and not show it.
50% of the F2 hatch would show blue.
50% of the F2 hatch would show lavender.

I have an update to my babies from my Lavender gander and Buff goose! Some of my babies have turned out to be what I have been told is
Penciled Blue!! How does this happen? Would it have been some buff background in the Lavender gander?

@apricotvalleywf
My thought was lacing, not penciling, but when the person said they were penciled, I was confused. The ones with the lacing right now are 4 months old. My youngest two that are not yet showing any lacing are 2.5 months and 3 months, but the lacing on the others did not start until about 3.5 months.

Some things to know... there are 3 shades of blue in the Americans, I think what you may be seeing is shortened feathers growing in which gives the hint of laced americans. If you truly have laced birds then I would be surprised.

Is it possible to get a close up photo of the feathers in their entirety?

I am looking for genetics input. :) As was stated before in this thread by @pete55, I believe, Lavender bred to Buff will result in blue offspring and the males will be split to buff. I placed one of those males with a buff goose. Am I remembering correctly that the that the offspring would be half Blue-Buff and half Blue with sons split to Buff still? Is it just the Blues that would be split to buff or would all males from this grouping be split to Buff?

Thank you!
