American Reza (Pakistani) Asil

I’ve found that old timers love to talk fowl. I don’t ask many questions, I listen. Every state in the US has quality gamefowl and gamefowl breeders.

If you want to breed them well, it would be best to stick with fewer strains, and have several pens/coops, in order to rotate accordingly and raise enough from one strain so as to properly select the next generation. Natural selection is a useful tool for me but cannot be relied upon. Hens also use sexual selection, particularly when free range. It’s your job to observe and select what you want out of each clutch. Cull undesirable fowl in cycles as needed.

Over here it's slightly different, but I will not go into details.

Great information

My Indian Malays. They're not an established breed, there's gonna be variations. I even got an infertile Dwarf out of them.
My boy Goliath.

They are smaller, but they're still considered Reza up to 6.6 pounds (cocks), which isn't bad. It gave me pause at one time. Problem is, I think very few people have them that big and some are undersized even by the standard.
That's not a bad weight. They're also pretty short, & stocky. Kinda like a Cornish, but less bulky.

What's the weight required by the standard? Don't have my Book of SOP with me currently.

The ones I've eaten had quite nice carcasses.

Cocks - 5.5, cockerels - 4.5, hens - 4, pullets - 3

Twenty percent is allowed, I believe, to make max cock weight 6.6 and hen weight 4.8.

I'm going to aim for 6 for the cocks and 4.5 for the hens. Maybe I can get them bigger than that eventually.

Not bad.
