American serama thread!

My Seramas didn't come today, so they will be here tomorrow by 3PM, I can't wait till they get here I don't even know what they are going to look like! Of course tomorrow is suppose to be one of the hottest days of the summer. I hope they get here early.

Hi Everyone!!! I am a proud new owner of 3 month old Serama. Well i just wanted to ask a quick question. So I know very little about the Serama breed and i was just wondering how do these little guys pose the way they do. Do you train them to do so or does it just come naturally to them or is it just about quality. My Serama is suppose to be SQ (according to my breeder). I don't show my birds, but I just like having good looking birds. He had a couple of very good looking adult Seramas with the full breast and everything, but i really wanted to get a cockerel so it can be about the same age of the rest of my flock. So back to the question, my Serama does not pose like that yet. At around what age do they start to pose and have that really appealing look. Here is a picture of my 3 month old Serama that cost me $25, good buy??

Oh yea and could this be a BBR also is it true that the short legs is a lethal trait??

short legs are not all lethal trait only the creepers are ... For 25 bucks you cant really ask for anything more .... That is a mottled wheaton not a BB red... Congrats on the buy and congrats to the serama world ...That but is far from show quality but it's a start most so call breeders out there will breed up a storm and then try pushing birds like this to new hobbyist which is wrong and sad . But he will be a start for you . No worriers I was trick the same way learn from it and do better next time around ..

H and welcome to the world of seramas! They are the bomb. Mine are all pet quality, I just love them for what they are.
To answer some of your questions: The better the "quality" the better they pose naturally, BUT they can be trained to pose as well. Because your boy is young he will be doing alot more filling out.yet. The "pose" he is in in the picture is pretty good for naturally doing that. He still has some chest filling in to do, but his wings are fairly vertical naturally. He MIGHT be a little long in the back, which will make it harder for him to get the tail close to the body, BUT he is so young and has alot of growing to do. If all you want this fellow for is a pretty pet, you got a great buy for $25. I am curious, you talk about short legs but he seems to have nice long legs?
P.S. I am NO expert, I just wanted to answer your questions to the best of my abilities.....
ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY your new boy!!!!! :yesss: :cd

So sorry brahmabreeder. never give up. Would recommend getting a live trap and do the killer justice and kill him. But really so sorry :(
there is no reason to go around killing wildlife for our failure to protect our animals . learn from it and fix the entry point is all we need to do . killing wildlife does two things: 1. reduces the population (that may seem acceptable to some who only care for their own animals) and 2. opens up resources and territory for others ultimately increasing their success and population. We cannot win this war until they or we are all dead. Don't provide them with an easy meal in a difficult world and you can enjoy them for what they are. Being responsible caretakers of our livestock is our job. Wild things are merely trying to survive.
