I know. I've always wanted to show but up til recently, I've had huge stage fright issues so I haven't been able to. I've finally got it under control and I think it would be really fun to do something local and see how it goes before I try something big.
Any advice you can give would be great, I know about showing horses but nothing about showing birds.



He was a low man on the totem pole in the bachelor pen he came out of so hes missing some head feathers. he actually stands straighter than this but was a little stressed from the drive home.

Showing birds is a bit simpler than a horse show. The snow provides the cage they will be in. give the a bath about 3 days before the show. I use a flea shampoo or dawn. I put a little vinegar in the rinse water to get any extra shampoo out. I use a glycerine spray the day of the show. I use vet rx to redden the comb face and wattles on show day. Some people use petroleum jelly. You place the bird in the cage and the judges examine the bird. Since the only color of serama that is recognized by the apa is white you list the birds as aov ( all other variety) as the color on the entry form. Your little female is cute. The little males broken tail feathers will affect his score. Go ahead and show him for the experonce.

Thanks. I talked it over with my mom and we have decided it would be best to plan it out and get ready for the bigger fair next year. We dont have a way to get the birds tested at the moment. Also, the requirements state that I have to have owned the bird for 60 days before I can do a show. I just got these guys yesterday and the local fair is next month. I'd also like him to be in better shape and a little easier to handle.

My female laid her egg a little bit ago and I happened to look in and saw the male standing guard in the nesting box with her. It was soo sweet!

I love them! How old are they? They look around the same age as my little ones (3 weeks today)

Studley and his pullet have begun to breed/lay. I can't wait to see what these two produce.
