oh excited now!! YAY do you think I will be able to put these new four in with the two she hatched a week ago? the others seem so much bigger already! My Peewee and Boo were born yellow (Boo had a chipmunk stripe though.) Boo feathered out with dark lacing and Peewee still has yellow on her chest and head but that is disappearing as her new feathers come in.
I tried putting Peewee in with other week old Seramas and they pecked her terribly so she was a loner (mirror and teddy bear for company) for about a week. Once she was a week old I was able to put her with the rest and she was fine. You can give it a try but watch them and be prepared to separate. I have a sebright chick (same size as Serama) that I put in with other regular sized hatchmates and she is fine in there with them.oh excited now!! Out of 5 Chicks that were born yellow. The 3 males ended up brown laced and mottled, all different shades of brown. The girls look totally different, I don't know what color one of them is but she has lacing and mottling to a certain degree. The other has pumpkin markers.
I have 3 chicks in the brooder, all hatched yellow. None have the same feathering (or parents) as the birds above. They are lighter colored then the others... so we will see what they turn out like.
When you are breeding for Wheaton, the chicks you look for are solid yellow.
From my experience there are quite a few different colors that evolve from yellow chicks. It seems like every chick I have ever gotten was solid yellow... or had one or two tiny black dots on their head or back.
Three of my new Serama chicks have great poops but one has kind of like loose pudding and smells. Do I need to be concerned?
LOL!! I think it's like every 3rd poo is like pudding and stinky, right? I have a couple that have runny poops sometimes too, but not sure why. I figure, if it's going in and coming back out it must be okay..
