Its been a stressful "bird" week for many of us. My heart is with you all. I had a rough day myself today, giving up 5 of my babies.... Some people say they're "just chickens", but to me they are my baby birdies. I hatch them, raise them, love them, clean their poopy butts, see them eat their first mealworms, etc. I feel obligated to make sure they have good homes.

I gave away 5 of my OEGB babies, 6 weeks old, to a BYC member who is starting up a 4H club in a nearby county. I have confidence in her, but its still hard. My kids made fun of me for tearing up afterwards. Doggone it, my tear ducts are attached to my heartstrings. They were from my first real hatch. 7 OEGB, 3 Serama. I kept the Serama.

I think I might just do eggs from now on. I am not as attached to eggs, as I am hatchlings.

Yes, Memphis, I WISH I could claim allergies.....No one believes me anymore if I claim the whole "dirt in the eye thing.... They just say I'm a wuss. Sometimes I envy folks that can be stoic. Not me, my heart is on my sleeve.

Love your set-up in the drawer froggie. Great way to keep tabs on mom and eggs! Just saw it is not a drawer exactly but some part of a dresser or other piece of furniture.
