American serama thread!

My silkies do not go broody, just a normal basis. My d'uccles go broody. It seems that whenever a hen doesn't want to be bothered, she goes broody.

little Serama roo. And I free range my birds, too.

I'm so upset with USPS right now. My eggs were supposed to be here on Thursday and they didn't show, so I expected them yesterday. They also didn't show yesterday. I checked online today with the DC # and it said they arrived in the state, just that they won't be delivered until Monday. They were laid on Tuesday, so now the fertility will have declined. I'm really upset.

Yes, Priority Mail. They are from BHep. I understand the fact that they shipped all the way across the country, but still, this is ridiculous.

Everyone needs to have a silkie for broodies, no? LOL, I seriously keep thinking I need one, but think my husband would explode, LOL
I tried that method, got 2 beautiful Splash babies from a local breeder that shows. I now have 2 beautiful Splash Roos that don't do me one bit of good! I'm done with Silkies unless I can get a proven hen! LOL!
Only four more days to Hatch Day for my Castle Delights eggs....her packing is AWESOME! I had no idea I was supposed to let them sit, so under the hen they went right off the bat! Talk about dirty looks--I took her nice warm eggs away (crossbreeds) and put a bunch of ICE CUBES in there instead! That was 15 days ago....I moved the hen and nest to the new Queen's Quarters--about 4' square coop that is all hers--and since it's been really quite cold, placed some Christmas lights atop her plastic tote (it's on its side to protect from major drafts and any stray precipitation despite the plastic taped to the coop), which she seems to be appreciating. Tomorrow I pull the water *dish* and put in some of the caged-bird watering tubes which have founts that not even a Serama chick can drown in (I hope!).

Sorry, that sucks. I will say I've hatched much older eggs with success, so there's hope. Keep the Faith!!!

We'll I just heard from BHep. Apperentally the PO was being stupid and couldn't ship the eggs this week. So she is taking the old eggs back and giving me new ones that will for sure ship on Monday/Tuesday. I'm relieved.
