Yes, she was....and yes, it really sucks to lose any bird. I've lost a few this summer to internal laying (my outside flock) and it just sucks. I have quite an extensive medical kit now - I just keep buying things as I read about them or need them. I would have to say my best purchase this past year has been Vet RX. Along with my Poly-vi-Sol vitamins, I use it the most if I have droopy birds. I also have Tylan 50, a few of the other powder antibiotics just in case, Corid, Sulmet, Wazine, Safeguard for Goats, Ivomec injectable and pour on, Sevin, vitamins B and E and selenium, rooster booster for those picked on chickens, neosporin, Betadine for cleaning wounds and I always have yogurt and apple cider vinegar. For little ones I keep bandaids for hobbles and curly toes, for my spraddle legs I have vet tape and I have a food grinder for their chick starter. I want to add oxyine soon for disinfecting the coop and cages. I think that pretty much covers it lol. I just cleaned out our family game closet and replaced it with all my chicken stuff

Yep, I just don't use any of my chickens for the soup! I'm a Mom and was raised by women who were prepared for anything (they lived through the depression) so I guess it's just in my blood to have anything and everything I might need. The sad part is that sometimes even these things aren't enough. One of my special needs chickens is not doing well tonight and nothing that I have seems to be working

I've learned that you just can't save all of them no matter how much you want to. They do hide illness or injury well and usually it is too late. She has neurological problems so it's not surprising, but it still sucks.
