American serama thread!

They are not inside. They are on the deck. They hang out in a dog kennel for now. I let them out when I have some time to hang outside. He is not a year old yet but he is old enough to crow. He has gave me a blood blister while I was holding him so I don't think he likes being handled. Would I still handle him or would I need another solution. I might still get rid of him if he isn't any nicer. But I will try what you guys and girls are suggesting.

They're old enough to crow before they're a month old.

My cockerel gets an attitude when he thinks the girls are paying to much attention to me. He's great with me but when I handle the girls he gets worked up. I think it's adolescent hormones at work. I have been taking the girls out of his sight to handle them. I've only had them for several weeks now and he has calmed down. It may be just needs time to mature and realize you are at the top of the pecking order. I'm no expert, just a thought. I would give him some time though. Good luck!

I was using a LG witch worked fine on my eggs. I got several 100% hatches. I just got a Brinsea mini advance last week. I didn't want to even try Serama in the LG. I got really discouraged when I lost my hole hatch last time. It was shipped eggs but both seller did an excellant job packing. That hatch was on me and my LG.
I just wanted to update to say I did figure out my hatching problem. Both of the thermometers was off. I thought with just a half degree difference no big deal but they were off 1 1/2 and 2 degrees. I'm pretty sure I cooked them. I was incubating at 102 instead of 100.

I've got about 45 to 50 Serama eggs busy hatching, and it looks like most of them are hatching, which I didn't expect, because a lot of them must have been getting upwards of 3 weeks old when I set them.

I kept having a few leftover eggs here and there between orders, so I kept saving them waiting for incubator space, so when I finally got them set, they were anywhere from a few days old to well over two weeks old.

I figured I'd be happy if a dozen hatched, but wowsers, I think the majority are hatching.

I'm going to be wall to wall Seramas around here!

Woohoo. Congrats. I'd be happy to help if you'd like to just pack the little ones up and send them my way lol :) 3 week old eggs wow. That's great. You will be one busy lady over the next few weeks lol
