We are in the process of finalize the location, it will be either in Norco or Orange, most likely Orange. We need to gather all the info before we decide where, I will give an update after I talk to Kate tomorrow.

Okay, I'll be watching closely! I don't know if I'll have much to show, but I'll be there to check out all the eye candy.

How is yours Angie and turns out??? Same here, I can't wait to see everyone's birds, it will be more competitive then our last. I know a couple people are getting top birds from Grady and they are paying high dollars for em.

all im saying chaili if she is.....i cannot be held for my compulsion....LOL ill try not to but if she happens to get in the car on her own ALL bets are off lol

Joey- Angie is a beautiful, sweet little pullet. She's getting some pumpkin spots bleeding in now, so she's not pure white. She's so sweet and mellow, I'm afraid she'll squat on the carpet. I need to put her into boot camp for sure!! But a sweeter soul, you'll never find! I don't lose either way....

Yes, I believe the competition will be fierce!! So many of us in CA are new to Seramas, that some of the best birds in the competition may be purchased rather than home bred. It doesn't really bother me. Coming in second or third with a home grown bird, against a big name breeder is still a HUGE compliment in my book, considering the time they have put into their Seramas, vs how long some of us have had ours.

Amazing birds are happening in our own backyards. Joey, your yard has extra magic...

First off, most SErama are still "genetic soup" and don't breed true to their own color.

Second, can't assume a pure yellow chick will be white. Have had them turn out from totally yellow into pretty little duckwings.

Color in Serama chicks changes with age for a few weeks up to several months.

there are several breeders now who have their serama breeding true to black and white. but that took them several years of line breeding and selectin to get to that. i know the cocopop gene carries on it a long list of color..... and white pops up there. i have a beutiful pullet that came from a cocopop mating and she is pure white. these apples do fall far from the tree lol..... i would assume my pullet bred to another white bird should throw whites and to solidify the color id breed offspring back to parents and repeat the process several times. eventually white is locked in. still doesnt mean a throw back or two wont happen but long as the clutches are 50% or more white then they meet the standards from my understanding

This is mango, she has been broody for ages now, sitting on air. I forced her out the other day only to discover one of her toes is falling off, no wonder she has been in broody mode

brought her in and weighed her... 11.8 oz

Here is one of my diverse flock.... they all free range all day everyday in the fenced in back yard... approx half acre. My seramas are excellent foragers and I have placed tons of hide outs in the yard, one of their favs is a HUGE brush pile they like to hide in.

Don't you have hawks up there? I tried freeranging but it was like a hawk cafeteria. I now have to sit out with my birds for about 90 minutes every evening to keep them safe or they'd never get to frolic in the yard. I went inside to use the bathroom last week and came out to a pile of feathers.

I don't have the heart to shoot any birds. I used to volunteer at a wild bird rescue .
