American serama thread!

This is Dottie (named because of a round solid black dot on the back of her head). With this one I am not sure of her age due to my being ill and having a hospital vacation this summer. Last month I told Kimmi she looked to be about 4 months old. Today, she still looks to be about 4 months old. Her sister's comb is getting bigger showing that she is reaching maturity. With my serama that happens between 4-5 months. But Dottie still peeps!
Health is good; no sign of any type of illness. At 5,5 ounces her body is well-fleshed.

@Faraday40
I think our are closer to B and C class with the exception of Angel and Pippin.
Pip weighed in at 460g the other day while Jasper weighed 660g and Phoe at 650g. I was actually surprised that they weighed that much. So if we ever get a smaller boy to pair up with the little ones, we might get smaller seramas. Sadly Jasmine was on the smaller side too. I think she may have just barely tipped into the B class.

My first serama were bigger, The first two were-hen A and the Roo D. Their offspring were mostly C and D. It has taken years to breed them down in size (micro and A) and to get the appearance and temperament I wanted. Serama are an ideal breed to work with in genetics.

Sigh... I read the boys and girls backwards and read the numbers wrong. Pip is in class B....
I would have guessed that Pip & Angel are both on the edge of A/B size. Currently at 10.5 oz, even Angel may end up being a B.

My smallest to date is "Solo" (the lonely only chick). She's 10 wks old and only 6.5 oz. She will of course grow more, so who knows where she'll end up, but I feel she's my best shot at being a size A. What's funny is that she came from Coge - my son's serama. I had planned to sell her because she was so big and I didn't need any more seramas. In fact, Coge may be my BIGGEST serama. However, there's a pretty good chance "Solo's" daddy may have been a random cockerel - not Teddy. In Sept, I had the bantam coop filled with all the chicks I had for sale. For some reason, that's exactly where Coge insisted on laying her eggs. Each day she's wait for me to open the door and then after laying her egg, she'd start beating up the cockerels & pullets when she wanted out.

I have a back-up male who's smaller than Teddy. He was hatched in late summer. He's really here because he was the only male that Teddy would tolerate. I gave away several nicer ones.

Here's Coge:

You can see why she ended up staying....

Another day at home; no substitute jobs today. I sure miss being in the classroom and regret having retired. Wishful thinking as I really had no choice about retirement.

Faraday40-cute pictures and yes, I can see why Coge wasn't sold.

Kimmi announced last night, after taking pictures, that Dottie is not to be sold. We'll see. It's not fair to the animal when they're so tame. Most of the flocks are tame and there's just so much time in a day; and with seven dogs, three turkeys, three Phoenix and a Yokohama all wanting/needing attention there's not enough me to go around.

Dottie, the way she is, will likely be infertile and only good as a pet; in which case Kimmi will have to understand and let her be sold.

2 pullets and a cockerel!
They come from very nice show champions.
The little pullet who is very black is named Moonie, the pullet with more white is named Tuffy, and the cockerel needs a name
Sorry for all the pictures can’t seem to get rid of them
They are a few months old. Already training!!!
