I am grateful to have a job for sure. But sometimes I wish I could do something else. Just have to make the same kind of money.

Hang in there, hopefully you can find a job soon!

My Seramas are constantly amazing me with their mothering instincts. I had a chick that I hatched out and raised in a box until it was six weeks old. I put it in the Serama coop outside where it was picked on and harrassed like new birds sometimes are.

After about a week I noticed that the chick was nestled under the wing of a hen at night and during the day she was with the chick, protecting it and showing it food. That was two months ago and they are still inseparable.

Last Friday a little frizzled hen hatched out three white chicks. A few hours later I saw another hen co-mothering the chicks. The two hens are sharing all of the brooding duties, keeping them warm and feeding them.

Though Silkies are much touted for their maternal skills, they have nothing on these little birds.

I had purchased a new one and returned it because it is more suitable for larger hatches than I wanted. Plus, the Serama eggs are so small and that is mainly what I want to hatch. I called them and they said the turner part does not work as well when it is not fully loaded or mostly full. It has quite a few parts to put together. It is also rather large. I wound up with the Brinsea Mini Advance Ex and it is perfect for my needs. Hope this helps.
