SunnyCalifornia,
Use the one with the white earlobes if you aren't planning for showing or at least APA/ABA as it's a fault or DQ. If you get it started in the flock, you may never get rid of it. It seems to be a very persistent issue if you decided you didn't want white earlobes so if you're breeding toward the "standard" it's not good. The flip side is that if he is outstanding, some people don't mind it and type is more important than that. Same with green legs and white legs, hard to get rid of in favor of the approved yellow and swarthy legs but not a real issue to some buyers so it's really your decision. If he were mine and awesome other than the white earlobes, I would do some test matings and keep his chicks separate so you know which carry the gene. If he produces awesome chicks, it might be worth working with him to try and breed it out of that line but to be fair to buyers, it would be good to let them know chicks from that line may have the gene for it. I haven't bred mine long enough to know everything they might produce but I do know which carry mottling pretty much now. Mottling is so cool but not if you're project is trying to get a solid color so the more you know about what you may produce, the better you can choose which rooster needs to be with which hens and that includes breeding for size, type, comb, color, leg color etc. Some things are more important than others, like type.
