I don't mean to sound ignorant, and I'm not trying to pry, but where the heck is Omak? I am in NE Kansas and we get some pretty wicked winters here. If it snows a little, and the wind blows (like the wind does in Kansas!) in these hills we get snow drifts as much as 20 feet high! We've had snow right up to the roof of the barn.
Last year we had temps of -18, and combined with the wind chill it was about -50. I didn't loose any chickens to the cold, but I didn't have any seramas at that time. I didn't use any artificial heat, other than on the waterers, but with these guys I think I better at least consider some kind of extra heat when the time comes. I haven't decided what would be the best way.
