American serama thread!

Yes, but that is not a major fault, not having enough points on the comb. Notice how he has 1 point on the comb wich splits into 2? I'm not sure how big of a point deduction that is, but it's not desirable.
Oh okay, well thank you for pointing that out! Nothing on the comb was written on the standards page I was looking at.

I'm thinking of maybe raising some Seramas as pets, and maybe show birds? I'm actually working on building Tweet hid own coop, I just gotta find some wood. I'm worried he may get stepped on by the rooster and ducks, so I want him to be safe.

I wouldnt have him as a show bird maybe a breeder would be better. I bet he will be a lot happier with a couple of girls of his own and his own little place he could be the boss of. I could help you find some girls around you too pm me!

Okay, so I wanna build a small Serama coop for Tweet, this is a conversation I had with my mom:

*Just finished explaining my plan for a mini coop*

Me-So mom, Tweet is gonna be lonely in his coop, and I want to start showing my Seramas, and Tweet has a few faults, but I think his babies would do good.
Mom-Babies? Who are you gonna breed him with?
Me-Well, we can get him a few pullets.
Mom-From where? No hatcheries sell them.
Me-Well, I'm sure some BYC-ers have some for sale.
Mom-Okay, tell you what. I'll get you the wood and wire fencing, and if you successfully build Tweet a coop, I'll let you get maybe 3 girls for him.

SO I AM DETERMINED TO BUILD A GOOD COOP FOR HIM! Lol.

I wish my grandmother were like that... When I told her I was going to breed chickens, she said, 'MORE Roosters?!?!' (She's a smart old cookie, that one) but she likes my serama cockerels - they crow nice and quiet! ;)

Okay, I'm thinking if I get the supplies this week, and I have the design I want, and directions, I can have it done in a few weeks (I hope it'll be shorter, but I have no experience with building things from scratch, and I'm gonna be the only one working on it). I want it to be simple, the I can add some decors later, some roosts, a run (I would let him free-range, but I'm too worried he may get snatched up by a hawk).

Don't you think this handsome boy will produce some nice chickies???

Absolutely
