American serama thread!

Things are going slow around here. This cold weather is driving me insane! Anywho. I know they are still a little young but anyone wanna hazard some predictions/guesses on the sexes of my little ones? I know one whom is definitely a little roo. ^.^ Alex Haiden Licorice Parker Riley Sammy (the Roo ^.^) Twizler
I'm seeing the combs of cockerels... Pullets usually don't start really even showing their comb until nearly ready to lay... although Alex could go either way because the comb is still small. Curious, how old are they?

That's what I thought too, and then there was Chip!

Chip ALWAYS had a comb, and really red wattles, which I had always heard was a sign of being male.

But now she's just my pretty little chubby hen. I LOVE her, and am SOOO glad she is in fact a SHE!
Any chance you could help me with what I read wrong on her? lol

And then there is Jr - She has NO comb, like at all, but she is at 19 weeks so nearly laying agen (Chip on the L, Jr. on the R)

Cause now I'm afraid I'm afraid I'll have false hopes with my current little ones. They are sure cute! But I wish they were girls, except for Sylvester, he's perfect just the way he is!
Nuke is like Jr, she has basically zero comb, while Sylvester has a SERIOUS comb, and the others all have varying degrees of them.

~~Well they are 8 weeks old - hatched 10/10. I've been trying to keep better track of age. I always say that to myself and then a month or two in I lose count... lol. At least this time I have a definitive hatch date written down as the name of their pictures file folder on my computer so I'm forced to remember, although eventually it will get changed to the names of the birds I keep =D I guess they ARE still kind of young... they sure don't seem it with all their crowing and squabbling! LOL What do you mean change down light bulbs??

HI,
I use regular light bulbs in the brooder............................start with a 60 watt then change to a forty .
Really nice pictures..............

Ah ok. I didn't realize that would affect the heat much. I've only ever used the red heat lamp bulbs

They are 4 weeks old now. I was afraid of getting a lot of cockrel's but when Sammy's was the only one to go red I crossed my fingers and hoped lol. but it looks like I might be selling and buying more serama's in the spring lol.

We have hit a real cold spell, record lows for our area.....
temps running 10 degrees.not counting wind chill and winds running in the 50's......
Had the Seramas in the garage but got worried about them so....
currently have 5 roo's in the basement, a pair in my bedroom, two broody's in the bathroom (due tomorrow),
a roo, hen and two week old in the kitchen ( our house chickens) and another pair in the living room................

When are yours due?????????????
I have 9 due Sunday..............
As odd as it may sound, I have to check with my daughter, Olivia, on the exact dates. She's the one who started the incubating. How many 17 yr old girls do you know who would do that and be excited about it?! She has a personally made calendar on the wall, I'll have to look at it I guess! Lol I know it's soon! I'll let you know.

HI,
Look who I saw first thing this morning.........=)

Auntie has dutifully helped set the eggs..now Mom has taken all of them and won't share........

Sunrise this morning
