American serama thread!

I ended up calling them Truffles and Avalon. They took 2 chicks I gave them and adopted them like pros. I think the pullet already wants to go broody! They let the chicks jump and play on them and snuggle up in their feathers! I am hoping to give them all the chicks, but I don't want to push them. It this to much?

So, my little cockerel found his voice today

he definitely needs some practice and it scared me! They are both in the house still. I didn't get them outside soon enuf to acclimate to the climate. my question is when do the pullets typically start to lay? They are only 10 weeks old. Her face is red but I know from my other girls it's 17-30 weeks. I have a standard outside that's 30 weeks still no eggs but her 4 siblings are laying. Thank you for any advice or sharing information . Is 10 weeks iearly to start crowing?

Boyz start crowing when ever they feel like it. so no worries on that AND for the girlz they will start laying when ever they feel like it as well. Generally speaking after about 5-6 months on seramas and LFs it can be up to 10 months depends on what breed. Also it is winter time and that sends signals to their body to slow down for the cold season, so that plays another part in when they start. You can give them more daylight hours artifically to help get their egg laying machine going :)

How many chicks are you talking about? The "pair" is the one you got from Jerry correct? They are just babies themselves :love If everyone is about the same age they can all play together no sweat. I have had my super broody serama hen hatch and raise Game birds with NO problems.
