American serama thread!

I have my first pair of Seramas!

They are so darling! 8 months old. He weighs 8.6oz, and she weighs 9oz. They are the first of their kind that I have ever personally beheld. What a couple of brats! They have no sense of personal space, lol!

I have NO idea how to care for them, to the extent that it is different from larger chickens. I know that they cannot free-range, especially since she is white. Also, it seems to me that they ought to be inside, but I don't know if that is correct. At present, they are living in my bedroom, in a birdcage. It seems a bit undignified, but they don't mind. As I type this, they are madly trying to eat the flashing lights on my keyboard.... They really are little imps! Any serama-specific advice for me? Thank you!!!

They are terrible to photograph, because they won't sit still!

This is Merlin. He is terribly hen-pecked by his lady, but sure adores her anyway.

Dove. What else? She is very difficult to keep clean, I find.

You have not posted again. It is my hope that I did not offend by saying I thought your hen was ill or that they were eight weeks old instead of 8 months old. If so, I am sorry. If I had not posted about the above pullet being sick and then read later that she had died, well, it would be hard to take.

Serama are wonderful birds and the ones you have will make great additions to your family.

Pictures can be very deceiving. I've seen this in my own pictures. But here is why I believe she might be ill. First her eyes. They do not look as they should for a healthy bird. And yet, I have seen this caused by editing a picture. Her beak is slightly open as though the breathing were labored. But she could be vocalizing at the time the picture was taken. In the picture her plumage looks frayed and stained from head on down. A bird that is ill doesn't care for themselves as they should. Again, much of her appearance in the photo could very well be caused by the lighting when the shot was taken.

I do hope that I am wrong and that the pullet is fine.

I got a new pulley and I wanted to know what you would call her color...?

In horse world I would call this mulberry gray or rose gray.
Also is she mottled?

I got this little one also
S(he) is silked and not fully feathered in yet, but I was thinking silver suckling for her color...how far off am I on the guess?
And I'm really happy with her form, what do you think?
