American serama thread!

Nope. But a really typey smooth hen. Her egg was so so small. She was standing next to it when I found it to

Pretty neat. My young pullet (17 weeks) is getting the red comb, face, and wattles. She was in a nest box with a rooster this evening rounding out a nest so I'm hoping. She's a smaller bird than the rest so I am curious as to egg size with her.

I got this little one also S(he) is silked and not fully feathered in yet, but I was thinking silver suckling for her color...how far off am I on the guess? And I'm really happy with her form, what do you think?
Deffiantly A Silkied How old Is This Chickady?
im not quiet shire of the exact age. She has her wing feathers and tail feathers in and has started to get chest feathers. I'd guess 3 weeks or so

I have a very very tiny little hen that started to lay about a month ago. I haven't been able to weigh her yet so I don't know if she is micro or just class A, but her first egg along with all the rest have beensmaller then a robin egg and only has egg whites.
I have heard the really small hens can have fertility issues.
That's ok I love her anyway. But I was just curious if this has the potential of correcting or sense it has been like this for month that all her eggs will probably be like this.
Just wondering.

Mine have started to lay after at least 6 months. I hope yours lays an egg soon.

so ive been away for a while and ive found something out. the seramas i have CANNOT breed and have living offspring so im looking for anyone that has fertile eggs or that will have them

Of the pullets I have had so far (7) only one has started to lay after six months. One started at three months. Five between four and five months. I think it will be soon.

This is the pullet. Not a new picture. The comb and wattles are a bit bigger now and redder.

I candled my latest serama clutch of eggs. Of the ten eggs under the broody only one had died early in development. The other nine eggs are viable. They're from my frizzle hen so I'm pretty pleased. Looks like my hatch rate is going to go up with the new rooster. last batch to hatch was 90%; looking good to be the same percentage this time too. Up from 40- 50%. Fingers crossed.

Congrats on the hatch @nchls school

I thought I would share that the chick from my 2 white birds is feathering out barred. It is black and white and the black is feathering in barred. Could I breed a sex-linked serama with this bird?
