American serama thread!

One of my hens has a prolapsed vent. She has passed the egg but is a bloody mess. Clean with an antibiotic cream, use Preparation H, and keep in the dark to prevent further eggs laying. This is what I have found online. It has been a number of decades since one of my birds had this problem. I would appreciate any advice you have to give.

Hmm... I honestly don't know what to do for that. Keep her somewhere where she can relax and stay calm is my suggestion other than that do what you found online.@casportpony

Spaz stand COMPLETELY vertical. She is soooo cute!!!

Yes but Meatball was destined to live a life of shame.
She, was a smoothie.

Hah! Poor meatball ;-P

I was terrified for Spaz's first few days. With just one hatcher my mind imagined up the worst that could happen. I was fine with hen or roo, but what if...what if Spaz was a SMOOTHIE!!!???
Thankfully she feathered out quick enough to save my sanity and proved otherwise XD

I have her in a dark closet. She looks better than this morning. The concern now is tomorrow and laying another egg.

Poor thing

Wow. What a freak.
She reminds me of one of those cats that do that.

A percentage of eggs will be smoothies.
They make great breeders though.
George & Gracie came from a smoothie hen.
Breeding smoothies back into the flock may have helped create their thick pelts.
